What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Evening Custodian/Housekeeping (Hoke Campus ONLY) position at Sandhills Community College?
This position reports to the Associate Vice President of the Hoke Center. The evening housekeeping technician conducts all manners of housekeeping duties and is responsible for the care of the facility to which he/she is assigned. He/she will act as a “working team member to provide general housekeeping and complex technical housekeeping duties.”
The candidate will be required to work Monday- Friday at the Hoke Center from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Some weekends are required. This is a continuously open posting, hiring based on recurring needs.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct routine housekeeping maintenance of assigned facility.
- Conduct all manners of floor maintenance to include shampooing and vacuuming carpet, sweeping, mopping, stripping, buffing, and waxing floors.
- Dust furniture and fixtures.
- Wash and clean windows, doors and walls.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and snack areas.
- Collect and place debris in containers.
- Empty and clean trash cans and recycle bins.
- Assist with furniture and equipment moves, especially for set-ups for special events.
- Perform all duties and assist all persons on our campus in a professional manner that honors and promotes the five core values of Sandhills Community College: Integrity, Helpfulness, Excellence, Respect, and Opportunity.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months of housekeeping experience preferred.
- Valid NC Driver's License.
- Ability to perform medium to heavy duty housekeeping tasks which require standing, walking, ability to lift 50 lbs., carrying, stooping, pulling, pushing, kneeling, reaching, etc.
- Ability to work with hand tools, portable powered equipment (vacuums, etc.), and housekeeping chemicals.
- Ability to participate in safety and housekeeping training and to comprehend and practice it in the course of duty.
- Ability to interact, communicate, and maintain effective relations with students, public, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to follow guidelines and directives and to maintain a neat and professional appearance.
