What Your Job Will Be Like:
Do you have a Security/Training background and want to use your leadership skills to join our Protective Force team at Sandia? If so, you could be the next Protective Force Instructor/Trainer Lieutenant for Center 09237, whom we are seeking to join our team!
The selected candidate will be an experienced, proactive, highly certified individual who can Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate day to day training activities for the Protective Force (Pro Force). This position will also support Shift Operations as required.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Work independently on multiple projects with little direction while keeping management aware of outcomes
Lead/Train both represented and non-represented Pro Force personnel
Implement operational procedures in accordance with DOE/NNSA orders, directives, and operational needs
Effectively collaborate with a multitude of customers and all levels of management to include DOE, NNSA, and SFO
Conduct training at all levels of the Organization, maintain physical fitness requirements to be armed and man postings based on the need of the organization
The selected candidate must be willing to work off-hours, weekends, holidays and in harsh or inclement weather conditions
The current work schedule is based on ten (10) hour shifts.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range:
$72,800 - $120,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and relevant experience
Leadership experience, such as Protective Force Operations/ law enforcement
An active DOE Q clearance (or equivalent, such as SCI or DOD Top Secret) is required to start
Must possess the following Certifications:
DOE/NNSA Firearms Instructor Certification
DOE/NNSA Basic Instructor Trainer Certification
DOE/NNSA Intermediate Force Instructor Certification
Applicants must be 21 years of age, be a US Citizen, and have a current driver's license and have ability to operate vehicles required to perform essential duties and responsibilities
Ability to pass Tactical Response Force I Training (TRF100); 6-7 weeks training
Ability to pass and maintain medical physical and psychological requirements established for SPO I designation under Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Chapter X, Part 1046 - Medical, Physical Readiness, Training and Access Authorization Standards for Protective Force Personnel (10 CFR 1046.11, .12, .13) (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-10/chapter-X/part-1046)
After job offer acceptance, the applicant will undergo comprehensive medical evaluation per 10 C.F.R 1046.12 and .13, to determine their ability to meet qualification standards, which include, but are not limited to: sense of smell, speech, hearing, vision, cardiorespiratory, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, neurological, mental and emotional.
Ability to pass and maintain fitness and firearm requirements and all applicable trainings and assessments identified in DOE Orders and 10 CFR 1046 and 1047 (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-10/chapter-X/part-1047)
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), with capability of wearing equipment weighing more than 17 lbs., for extended periods of time.
Ability to work at night, have near and far acuity, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision in accordance with 10 CFR 1046 standards
Ability to work in high-risk environments; possess knowledge, skills and ability to perform effectively under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or in situations in which immediate responsiveness and sustained attention are significant aspects of the job
Physical Requirements
The applicant must be able to perform a variety of duties and physical demands, such as: stand, walk, sit, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, hear, taste, and smell, and have visual requirements including night vision, near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, color vision, accommodation and field of vision, in order to perform essential functions
Applicants must be able to run one half (1/2) mile in 4 minutes and 40 seconds, run a 40-yard dash from a prone position in 8.5 seconds.
Applicants must be able to meet and maintain fitness and firearm requirements as well as the ability to maintain all required certifications, licenses, and qualifications
DOE regulations are the basic authority for the establishment of firearms, medical, and physical fitness standards for security personnel. Protective Force personnel shall participate in a mandatory DOE approved Physical Maintenance Training Program on a continuing basis.
This position may be required to demonstrate their continued ability to meet physical fitness qualification standards during inspections, surveys, reviews, audits, or other situations directed by DOE line management
Qualifications We Desire:
Five (5) years of supervisory experience including conducting/training Special Operations activities such as SWAT, SRT, or Military operations
Sandia National Laboratories Pro-Force Supervisory experience
Knowledge of DOE/NNSA orders and requirements; detailed knowledge of DOE/NNSA Protective Force Operations to include individual and team tactical response
Ability to obtain all DOE NTC certifications related to Pro Force Training, FIC
Basic working knowledge of ES&H safety requirements
Strong leadership experience including writing, communications, facilitation, critical thinking and organizational skills
Self-motivated, exercise initiative with minimal direction and or supervision, while working in a team-oriented environment
Familiarity with the following S&S fields: Protective Force Operations, Physical Security, Technical Security, Vulnerability Assessment, Performance Assurance
Experience in project management with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete multiple ongoing programs and projects
Expertise in development and implementation of operating policies, processes, and procedures
Ability to work with sensitive and or classified information
About Our Team:
The Safeguards and Security Protective Force Department at Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico (SNL/NM) is responsible for the Protection of resources, including Special Nuclear Material (SNM), Classified Matter, personnel, locks, keys and combination control. The Protective Force department is also responsible for emergency response assistance and basic law enforcement activities at SNL/NM.
