Intern, Clerical Union Undergraduate Year-Round - Vibration/Acoustics Simulation - Onsite

What Your Job Will Be Like :

We are seeking a Year-Round, On-site Clerical Union Undergraduate student intern to join our large-scale testing team!

You will be a member of the Experimental Mechanics & Dynamics Group's administrative support team. Day-to-day tasks will be under direction of the Group's Office Administrative Assistants.

On any given day, you may be called on to :

Set up meetings and appointments

Manage calendars

Order supplies (JIT) and manage supply areas

Maintain common areas (copy / supply / mail rooms, break room)

Assist with ensuring GSA vehicles are maintained

Assist with Controlled Unclassified Information white bag pick-up

Fill out equipment reapplication orders

Assist with document editing / modifying and data entry

Assist with travel planning

Assist with project and tour visitors, coordination, and badging

Assist with training documentation and verification

Take notes in project meetings

Distribute mail

Perform copying, scanning, and records management

Assist in specialty projects

As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will be represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), which requires monthly membership dues or agency fees. New hires into an OPEIU represented position will remain in the initial position for twelve (12) months before being eligible to be considered for other Sandia employment.

Qualifications We Require :

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements :

Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 / 4.0

Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Note : If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.

Qualifications We Desire :

Minimum of 24 credit hours towards any undergraduate program

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 / 4.0

Valid NM Driver's License

Experience with Windows operating environment and Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

Experience or ability to learn operation of standard office equipment

Good verbal and written communication (grammar, spelling) skills

Good work habits : punctuality, responsiveness, thoroughness, following instructions, asking questions, attention to detail

Proactive, proper business etiquette

Willingness to work with a team or individually

The Experimental Mechanics & Dynamics Group is responsible for small and large-scale experimental activities in Tech Area I and III. The Group consists of five departments within 1520 with the responsibility for developing and delivering small and large scale experiments to provide information on the performance, safety, and reliability of nuclear weapons and other systems and to acquire data to validate computational simulations of these events.

Security Clearance :
