Position Summary
Responsible for providing instruction to individual or small groups of K-12 students to improve academic performance.

Reports to the Education Administrator
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and group tutorial instruction to students.
- Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
- Organize and maintain a tutoring environment that promotes productivity and learning.
- Develop teaching or support materials, such as handouts, study materials, or quizzes.
- Communicate students' progress to students, parents, and/or Education Department staff.
- Make referrals, when appropriate, to the Education Department if students require services other than tutorial services.
- Maintain records of students' progress, feedback, or academic performance, ensuring confidentiality of all records.
- Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to complement tutoring.
- Attend required training, professional development, and staff meetings.

- Ability to explain material to students who have different learning styles.
- Ability to show patience and remain calm in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of positive behavior interventions.
- Ability to identify student problems and recommend solutions to Education Administrator.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, families, and service providers.
- Respect for cultural beliefs, values and traditions of the Pueblo of Sandia.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
- Three (3) years’ experience in an Education environment.
Preferred:
3. Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or related field from an accredited college or university
4. State of New Mexico Teaching License
Licensing Status
- Must be able to successfully pass a Background and Character Investigation in compliance with PL 101.630.
- Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
Working Conditions
- Duties are performed indoors and outdoors.
- Work is normally performed on weekdays; infrequent weekend and evening work may be required.
- Duties may involve walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and standing.
- Specific required movements include the following: (40 lbs. Max.)
- Trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, carry
- Arms-reach, carry, push, pull, twist rotate
- Legs-push, pull, twist, rotate
- Hands-grasp, manipulate, eye and hand coordination.
