Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on plumbing systems and HVAC systems on Pueblo of Sandia facilities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision, installs new HVAC equipment, performs routine repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems including any air distribution machinery, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic and digital control, hot and chilled water distribution pumps, and variable air volume systems.
- Performs preventative maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on HVAC systems, including evaporative cooling systems.
- Ability to trouble shoot mechanical systems in live systems and safely shutting electrical services, utilizing LOTO-Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
- Applications for low voltage controls and wiring.
- Performs seasonal overhauls and transitions of systems to and from heating/cooling.
- Diagnoses and repairs ice machines.
- Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heat exchangers.
- Repairs and replaces radiator valves, traps, and condensate pipes.
- Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, and sewage pumps.
- Troubleshoots and repairs water, and gas utility distribution systems.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions; installs, replaces or repairs damaged equipment; calibrates thermostatic controls.
- Inspects and observes pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of units and makes necessary adjustments; inspects and services refrigeration equipment, including refrigerators.
- Perform light electrical duties for commercial use.

- Knowledge of steam, water, and natural gas distribution systems maintenance and repair.

- Ability to perform duties considering the full use of Personal Protective Equipment without restrictions.
- Available 24 hours a day.
Education And Experience
Required
- High School Diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
- Four (4) years of HVAC or Refrigeration experience.
Note: Any combination of trade school and/or experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required experience.
License/Certifications/Registrations
The following certification is required prior to employment start date:
- Universal Refrigerant Certification,
- JR: Journeyman refrigeration.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
- Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation and character investigation in compliance with PL 101.630.
- Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.
The following Certificates are preferred:
- JSM: Journeyman sheet metal
- JP: Journeyman plumber
- BO1/BO2: boiler operation (low or high pressure)
- JG: Journeyman gas fitters
