General Purpose

Under general supervision, provides end user helpdesk support on software, hardware, and network resources including PC's, printers, scanners, telephones and voice mail; provides for interoperable communications during emergencies; and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience :

Associates Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and three years of experience working in a Help Desk environment with direct experience performing computer installations and peripherals; technical support, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, PC, printer / scanner, telephone system repair and maintenance; telephone / voice mail, printing OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses or Certifications :

Valid New Mexico driver's license or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico driver's license within 30 days of hire.

SC Defensive Driving Course completed within 90 days of hire.

Within 9 months of hire, must acquire CJIS - Criminal Justice Information System and must be able to pass CJIS background check.

Other licenses or certifications may be required within a specified time period after hire.

Essential Job Functions

Provides timely helpdesk support to end users; responds to and answers service tickets for all IT end user support and network support; documenting results of work; ensuring all calls are logged into the HelpDesk software.

Reviews and researches software and hardware solutions; recommends software / hardware solutions; analyzes needs for new hardware or network equipment; and works with IT Director in placing orders for new equipment.

Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs computer hardware (PC's, printers, scanners, phones / all peripherals) and software issues; isolates problems and performs repairs;

Assists in planning and implementation of new systems; and assists in project development for software and hardware deployments.

Trains users in new software, hardware, and telephone equipment when needed or as requested or required.

Trains other IT staff on specific areas of knowledge when necessary.

Coordinates and works with outside vendors for repairs, quotes, and needs analysis for new systems, parts, and equipment.
