What are the responsibilities and job description for the Courier position at Sandoval County?
Under supervision, performs assigned activities and functions within a highly visible high volume customer service area of Sandoval County; sorts and processes all incoming and outgoing mail; transports monetary deposits from departments located throughout Sandoval County; delivers and picks up packages and paperwork from other government agencies or companies the county does business with; ensures Courier vehicle is in proper working order; services and monitors, orders and maintains inventory for vending machines; and performs other related duties as assigned.Education and Experience:
Required Licenses or Certifications:
This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing in accordance with Sandoval County Personnel Rules and Regulations Article XIII Drug and Alcohol Policy and Testing-Drug Free Workplace.
- High School Diploma/GED Certificate from an accredited institution and one year of general office clerical support that includes bookkeeping, heavy customer service, automated record keeping and reporting, monitoring and reviewing files and data, accuracy in posting data to accounts, cash handling and monitoring and ordering supplies. Mailroom and/or courier experience preferred. Experience with vending machines desirable.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid New Mexico Driver’s License
- Ability to maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

- Operates county vehicle to pick up deposits and packages from departments located throughout the county.
- Operates county vehicle to pick up and deliver mail; sorts incoming mail and distributes it to county departments; sorts outgoing mail and processes through mail machine to apply postage; ensures mail machine is operating properly.
- Delivers and picks up packages and paperwork from other government agencies or companies that the county conducts business with.
- Checks and services vending machines at various locations; ensures machines are stocked and operating properly.
- Processes requisitions and purchase orders for mailroom, vending supplies and bills.
- Responsible for vending machines and product; purchases, delivers and stocks product; sets/changes prices on inventory; monitors expiration dates; logs purchases and tracks inventory; collects, reconciles and deposits monthly proceeds and logs results; monitors for proper working order; troubleshoots and contacts vendor in case of malfunction or when service is required.
