What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food & Nutritional Services Manager position at Sandoval County?
Under general direction, manages and coordinates the nutrition and food services program for Community Services including congregate meals at the County’s community and senior centers, home-based meals for eligible residents and seniors, YFD Summer Meal program, and activity-based health outreach programs involving topics related to healthy meal preparation and planning.

- High School Diploma/GED Certificate from an accredited institution and three (3) years of experience working in the food service industry such as a large commercial kitchen or cafeteria at a school, hospital, or other commercial facility that includes some training or experience with nutrition and menu/meal planning for specialized demographics; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) years of experience in kitchen operation supervision or management.
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
- Must pass a background check applicable to position.

This is a safety- sensitive position subject to random drug testing in accordance with County policy Article XIII Drug and Alcohol Policy and Testing-Drug Free Workplace of the Sandoval County Personnel Rules and Regulation.
- Ensures the program remains in compliance with all state and local regulations to include AAA, EID, CYFD, and any other regulations required by the Nutrition Program.
- Develops healthy menus, recipes, and meal patterns/schedule in accordance with AAA approval prior to monthly publication.
- Plans, executes and monitors various special events as assigned.
- Works with food services staff; provides instructions on how to use the meal plans and recipes as needed.
- Develops and coordinates food and non-food bids for vendors; encourages the purchase and use of locally-sourced fresh food products to include NM Grown.
- On a regular twice weekly schedule, compiles the orders from the Community and Senior Centers to the vendors for food and non-food items to ensure accuracy of food quantity and prices; distributes completed orders from the vendors to the meal sites and for special events.
- In partnership with the Community Services Manager - Senior Programs, Grant Analyst, and Accounting Specialist, obtains quotes and requests, verifies invoices and orders for payment, obtains quotes for kitchen equipment, and related activities.
- Conducts monthly site inspections of all kitchens to ensure all equipment is in good working condition.
- Manages inventory, meal variance, and ensures that nutrition education remain current and in compliance.
- Troubleshoots the kitchen computer and equipment when there are technical issues; writes procedures and forms that pertain to the kitchen and Drivers for homebound meals; and makes trips to the vendors when product inventory is shorted, when food items are unexpectedly low, or when items are not ordered in a timely manner.
- Fills in for the kitchen staff when they are absent or as needed for special events; delivers orders as needed; provides staff training as needed or required; and collaborates with contractors to maintain equipment in good operating condition.
