Under general supervision, is responsible for certifying, calibrating, and maintaining the County voting machines (ICE) and (ICC) scanners; maintains the Bureau of Elections (BOE) warehouse, including exterior of building, all equipment and supplies; and assists BOE staff during all election cycles.Education and Experience:

Position reports to the Bureau of Elections Manager and does not exercise supervision over lower level staff.
- High School Diploma/GED Certificate from an accredited institution and six months of office clerical and data processing experience that includes experience with data entry and retrieval and working with and troubleshooting automated program equipment.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid New Mexico Driver’s License;
- State of New Mexico Certification of Dominion Image Cast Evolution (ICE) & Image Cast Central (ICC) Voter Assist Terminal required within a specified period of time following hire.
- Programs, certifies, seals and maintains the County Image Cast Evolution (ICE) tabulator voting machines including running pre-printed Test Decks to verify scanners read ballots correctly in all four orientations; calibrates the machines for time, date, and battery status year round; performs preventative maintenance on voting machines including verification of door, key, panel, and wheel operations; provides voter assistance including inserting blank test decks; manually selecting voting positions to verify selections were marked correctly in all four orientations; maintaining ink cartridges; and using required clean sheet for upper and lower scanners.
- Programs, certifies, maintains, exports data, and runs reports from County voting systems, applications and programs including Image Cast Central (ICC) scanners, Election Project to EMS Servers to Election Event Designer (EED), Results Talley and Reporting (RTR), Transfer Point, and Adjudication Session (ADJ); confirms all voting machines and poll locations are in correct categories; burns memory cards, I Buttons, and print labels; conducts mock election to verify canvass.
- Maintains election materials, inventory of election supplies and voting hardware including voting booths (hard-case, handicap and cardboard booths), ballot boxes, handicap ramps, tables and chairs.
- Verifies all voting materials associated with elections including absentee, early voting, and Election Day; assembles packets associated with absentee voting; stuffs ballot boxes with State required materials for early and Election Day operations.
- Assists the BOE staff with answering phones, printing ballots, stuffing ballots in packets for mailing; printing labels, entering voter registrations in the Secretary of State voter registration system; auditing and filing of current, changed, cancelled, or deceased ID verifications; daily balancing during early voting; assists with qualifying and disqualifying Provisional and Replacement Absentee Ballots; canvasses election results for certification of election; helps scan returned ballots; assist in recount and recheck; runner for absentee ballots; and assist in election school and training election poll officials on ICE.
- Delivers and picks up all voting equipment, handicap ramps, booths for elections; assists with setup of booths, ballot on demand systems, printers, tables for associated early voting sites; and travels to different voting sites for verification of correct voting operations.
- Assists in site visits to ensure internet connection; ADA compliance; parking and capacity of poll location.
- Maintains the warehouse interior including sweeping, washing floors with automated floor machine, and dusting; maintains cleaning supply inventory; ensures proper storage of voting machine equipment; ensures that all booths, ballot boxes, cases and bins are cleaned and stored in their proper locations; assembles new equipment; cleans and maintains early voting room; cleans restrooms; removes trash and election materials from all elections when storage has expired; and delivers materials to county facility for proper disposal.
- Maintains warehouse exterior including re-stripping and cleaning parking lot, control of weeds, trees, and bushes on all warehouse property with use of chainsaws, weed eaters, blowers, hoes, rakes, shovels and picks (seasonal).
- Designs, creates, and requests bids on material list; participates in purchasing decisions; fabricates projects including welding, grinding, metal cutting, sanding, drilling, and assembly; and uses and maintains equipment and tools to complete duties including truck lifts and a dump trailer.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
