Job Summary:
The Dockmaster will be responsible for managing the docking of boats, ensuring the safety and security of the dock, coordinating the maintenance and repair of dock equipment, and providing excellent customer service to boat owners. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of marina operations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all marina operations including arrivals, departures, and storage of boats
- Ensure the safety of all vessels and personnel by maintaining and enforcing marina rules and regulations
- Coordinate the docking and undocking of vessels
- Assist with mooring lines and electrical or water hook-ups for vessels
- Inspect facilities for safety hazards, necessary maintenance, and cleanliness
- Provide customer service to boaters including answering inquiries and resolving issues
- Manage a team of dock staff, including training, scheduling, and supervision
- Maintain records of arrivals, departures, maintenance, and other dock activities
- Responsible for the sales of marina services such as berths, fuel, and equipment
Skills, Experience & Education Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Dockmaster or in a similar role in a marina setting
- Knowledge of boat operations and maintenance
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent customer service skills
- Understanding of safety regulations and procedures
- First aid and CPR certification is a plus
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
- Must have basic computer skills
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- This type of work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
- Some combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
