Sandri Energy is a family-owned company based in Greenfield, Massachusetts. We are seeking cashiers/customer service associates for our Rutland store. Full and Part time opportunities are available.

The primary role of this position is to assist customers, accurately ring up purchases and collect payments, and maintain the facility and store inventory to Sandri and Sunoco standards.
Position Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location for all scheduled shifts.
- Provide excellent customer service by processing transactions quickly and accurately with a friendly and courteous attitude
- Receive payments from customers or vendors by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change
- Greet every customer entering the store (verbally or by making eye contact and giving a friendly nod)
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas to maintain image standards
- Verify prices of goods and services and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners
- Resolve customer complaints or concerns to the best of ability, offer follow up by the Store Manager when problem cannot be resolved to customer’s satisfaction
- Answer customer questions, and provide information on products and store policies
- Clean parking areas, offices, restrooms, and equipment, and remove trash
- Stock shelves with incoming goods to maintain proper level of goods. Rotate stock to reduce expiration of products.
- Sell prepared food, groceries, and related items to increase sales. Some locations may require light food preparation/maintenance of coffee/soda service area, heat and serve, and/or deli.
- Thank customers upon completion of a transaction to continue established rapport
- Protect company assets by immediately informing Store Manager or Assistant Manager of equipment needing repair, maintenance concerns, or other problems affecting the store
- Special projects as assigned

Education and Licenses:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior retail experience preferred
Skills

- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations that are necessary to complete customer transactions and required paperwork to balance cash drawer, balance lottery, and assist with inventory

Key Accountabilities:
- Process customer transactions efficiently and accurately, as demonstrated by supervisor observation, customer satisfaction, and balanced cash drawer/lottery at end of shift
- Minimize loss due to theft, waste, accidents, drive-offs, pricing errors, etc.
- Consistently follow Sandri and Sunoco standards for customer service, store cleanliness, and personal uniform
Physical Demands:
This position requires the employee to be able to work in a typical retail/convenience store environment, using standard point of sale and office equipment (price scanner, cash register, computer, telephone, fax machine, and photocopier). The employee spends the majority of his/her work time standing or walking the retail area of the store and providing direct service to customers. The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, walk through and visually inspect the store, kneel, twist, bend, sit, crouch, and reach in order to be able to clean and stock inventory, and lift at least 20 pounds. The employee must be able to walk through and sweep, mop, and shovel around gasoline pumps and store walkways, which sometimes required walking over uneven terrain. The employee must be able to verbally communicate in a clear and persuasive fashion with customers, vendors, and other employees. The position required tactile use of the hands as necessary to operate fuel and air pumps, write and use standard point of sale and office equipment. Position requires the mental acuity to carry out customer transactions, make mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), accurately count change, and clearly convey detailed information when communicating with others.
