POSITION SUMMARY: The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the inventory system, ensuring the availability of materials and finished goods, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role is critical in supporting the production process by ensuring that the right quantity of raw materials, packaging, and finished products are available to meet production schedules while minimizing waste and shortages.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and track raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory to ensure timely availability for production.
Manage stock levels, perform regular cycle counts, and reconcile physical inventory with system records.
Update inventory records in the system to reflect actual quantities and discrepancies.
Conduct regular physical inventory counts (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and assist with year-end inventory audits.
Generate inventory reports, analyze discrepancies, and report findings to management.
Collaborate with procurement and production teams to plan and manage material requirements based on production schedules.
Assist in forecasting inventory needs to ensure efficient material handling without overstocking or understocking
Oversee the proper storage and organization of materials and finished goods in compliance with food safety standards and company policies.
Ensure all goods are labeled, rotated, and stored in accordance with best practices to maintain quality and shelf-life requirements
Maintain and optimize the use of inventory management software and systems.
Utilize barcode or RFID technology to streamline inventory tracking and reduce errors
Ensure inventory complies with all regulatory requirements related to food safety, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of materials.
Assist with product recalls or lot traceability if necessary.
Act as a liaison between inventory, purchasing, production, and logistics teams to ensure alignment of stock availability and production needs.
Communicate inventory status and discrepancies with relevant departments in a timely manner.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
2 – 3 years experience in inventory control or supply chain management, preferably in a food manufacturing or production environment.
Strong understanding of inventory control systems and best practices.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality control processes in a manufacturing setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
