SUMMARY : The primary purpose of the Laundry Worker is to form the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility and as may be directed by the Administrator and / or the Director of Environmental Services, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Sort soiled linen from bins and removed all foreign matter.
- Load presorts linen or clothes into the washer(s). Starts washer (3) and double checks for proper cycle.
- Removes clean linen or clothes from washer(s); places same in dryer(s) and activates dryer(s).
- Removes dried linen and clothes from dryer. Folds linens and clothes and stores linen on shelves.
- Prepares linen exchange carts for proper amount of linen prior to delivery.
- Delivers linens to nursing units on linen exchange carts.
- Reports any mechanical defects or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate person(s) immediately.
- Assists in the care and maintenance of department facilities, equipment, equipmen, and supplies. May help clean machines, clean floor,s and perform other cleaning duties.
- May work as part of the team in flatwork finishing. Shakes out dry / clean laundry. Folds laundry.
- Performs other duties as assigned
