Anticipated Position, Health and Physical Education Teacher - 2025-2026

Sandwich Public Schools has an anticipated position for a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Health and Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students through engaging physical education programs and health education curricula for grades 7 - 12. This individual will inspire students to develop lifelong habits of physical activity and healthy living.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate health and physical education programs.
• Teach a variety of physical education classes including fitness, sports, wellness, and health-related topics.
• Assess student performance in physical activities, health knowledge, and social-emotional learning.
• Promote healthy lifestyles through discussions and activities focused on nutrition, mental health, sexual health and physical fitness.
• Develop and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and parents to support student development.
• Keep up-to-date with current trends, research, and best practices in health and physical education.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as coaching or sports events (if applicable).
• Administer fitness and health assessments and provide feedback to students and families.
• Ensure compliance with school policies, regulations, and health/safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Physical Education.
• Valid MA teaching certification in Health and Physical Education.
• Experience working with middle and high school students in a classroom or athletic setting.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
• Passion for promoting student health, fitness, and well-being.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
