What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Educator - School Age position at Sandwich Montessori School?
Spend the summer on our beautiful campus, guiding an independent and engaged group of 6-12 year olds who love hands-on learning, and most of whom already have strong relationships with each other and the school. Our elementary students have the opportunity to use the indoor classroom, library and teaching kitchen for STEM, art and cooking projects, or spend the day outdoors crafting, building with LEGOS, forts and fairy houses, playing games, gardening, and making friends.
Our teachers and students head outdoors in all weather and spend as much time outside each day as possible. With lots of space to learn and play, the days are child-led, with teachers providing fun and enriching learning opportunities to our students that make lasting memories of amazing Cape Cod summer fun.
While the School Age Summer Teacher can lean into the areas in which they have the most interest or experience; i.e. focusing more on art, music, nature-based learning, or science based activities, they will develop arts and crafts activities, cooking projects, STEM projects and games that align with our bi-weekly themes in collaboration with our other amazing summer staff. Walking field trips are an option if the teacher desires to engage in them, and we bring outside experts to campus such as a Master Gardner, recycling expert, parent community members like first responders and NOAA employees.
If you love children and the outdoors, love to laugh and have fun, and align with the Montessori philosophy of respecting children and allowing them to lead in their learning, we'd love to talk to you!
This is a great position for those who are interested in education, or child focused careers, and/or have been classroom teachers, camp counselors or nature educators.
Please feel free to reach out via text message to Michelle at 508-468-0799, interviews will be conducted live or via Zoom to accommodate candidates who do not reside on Cape until the summer months.
