Sandy's Racing | Gaming is currently seeking a Host Cashier/Food Runner to play a critical role in a Food & Beverage Department.

As Host Cashier/Food Runner, your primary responsibility is to greet guests in a courteous, friendly, upbeat, and professional manner with a positive attitude while ensuring his/her outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times and the tendering of all monetary transactions. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard.

Responsibilities

• Foster an environment that embodies Sandy’s #ALL IN philosophy by creating a fun-filled, entertaining atmosphere. Enthusiastically promote Sandy’s culture of offering superior guest service and actively building long-lasting guest relations.
• Assist Food Servers and Food Service Runners as it relates to guest contact and table information.
• Responsible for conveying special orders and special requests information to management.
• Maintain knowledge of scheduled daily activities and in-house groups, daily house count, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation and price range.
• Greet guests promptly as they arrive.
• Ensure menus have proper inserts and are current according to the most recent change and replace all menus in poor condition.
• Communicate the needs of the guests to the kitchen and management, inform management of guest reactions and comments, and assist management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas; shut down podium and forward phones to voice-loop at end of shift.
• Operate POS system.
• Handle money and credit transactions.
• Notify manager on duty of any guest concerns.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested.
• Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to acquire and maintain applicable Kentucky Horse Racing Commission licensing.
• Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
• Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays.
• Experience working in a similar resort setting preferred.
• Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous restaurant experience as a server, cashier, or hostess preferred.
• Two (2) years of related experience.
• One (1) year of Food & Beverage Cashier or equivalent experience in a cash handling position.
• Experience in a high-volume food outlet a plus.
• An equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant, and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
• Must have excellent communication skills and proper phone etiquette.
• Great interpersonal skills, cheerful attitude, and team player are required.
• Must possess basic computer knowledge.

Working Environment

• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (minimum of four hours).
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency while performing tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the casino; from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
• Must be able to lift, carry and/or push a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, turn, push, pull, grasp objects and the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
• Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, dust, loud noises, and bright lights.
• Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and talk.
• Must be able to lift and handle up to 50lbs without assistance.
• Must be able to bend, crouch, kneel, reach and turn/twist for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to solve problems, organize and plan multiple projects, interpret data, and make decisions.
