The HHR Technician is a key member of the technical team responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various gaming and wagering equipment, including historical horse racing (HHR) electronic gaming terminals and sportsbook equipment. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the optimal functioning of gaming systems, providing technical support to customers and staff, and contributing to a seamless gaming and betting experience for our patrons.

Responsibilities
- Foster an environment that embodies Sandy’s #ALL IN philosophy by creating a fun-filled, entertaining atmosphere. Enthusiastically promote Sandy’s culture of offering superior guest service and actively building long-lasting guest relations.
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on various gaming equipment, including HHR electronic gaming terminals and sportsbook devices, to ensure they are operating efficiently and accurately.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and networking components of gaming systems.
- Collaborate with the HHR Technician Manager to schedule and execute regular maintenance procedures on all gaming equipment.
- Physically move and relocate gaming equipment as necessary to optimize floor layout and customer experience.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts replaced, solutions applied, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source and replace malfunctioning parts as needed.
- Assist in implementing software updates and upgrades to enhance the functionality and security of gaming systems.
- Provide technical support to customers and staff members, addressing inquiries, concerns, and technical questions promptly.
- Ensure compliance with gaming regulations, responsible gambling practices, and industry standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain applicable Kentucky Horse Racing Commission licensing.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in electronics repair, technical support, or a related field is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with gaming technology, electronic components, and troubleshooting techniques is a strong asset.
Equipment, Software & Tools
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, electronic testing equipment, and specialized software for gaming systems and equipment.
- Familiarity with a range of hand tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, and multimeters, for equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Experience with computer hardware and software troubleshooting tools to address technical issues.
- Ability to work with specialized tools for equipment assembly, disassembly, and adjustments.
Working Environment
- Mainly indoor, climate-controlled areas; occasionally in a warehouse environment.
- Frequent exposure to cigarette smoke.
- Constant exposure to bright lights, flashing animations, and ringing sounds.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and talk.
- Must be able to lift and handle up to 50lbs without assistance.
- Must be able to move objects up to 400lbs with assistance, using pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment.
- Must be able to bend, crouch, kneel, reach and turn/twist for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to solve problems, organize and plan multiple projects, interpret data, and make decisions.
- Must possess excellent communication skills to interact with customers, team members, and other departments effectively.
