Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for Director Of Operational Risk. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall quality of risk management across the Bank by leading, developing, implementing, and maintaining the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Program. The Director Of Operational Risk will continually seek to mature the overall program.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Through active leadership of the ORM Program, the Director Of Operational Risk will be a thought leader in the execution of the overall strategy / approach to the framework, policies, procedures, risk tools and reporting processes. The role will lead in promoting a culture of risk awareness across the organization.
- Work closely with business leaders, compliance partners, and Internal Audit to develop strategies and approaches for operational risk / control weakness identification, influencing positive outcomes for the bank and fostering a culture of partnership while advancing the three lines of defense methodology.
- Coordinate operational risk management activities with the functional risk areas of the ORM Program (Regulatory Management, Corporate Security, Information Security, Vendor Management, Fraud Risk Management, etc.), provide risk advisory to develop reporting and monitoring of the operational risk profile of the Bank, and drive consistency in the taxonomy and application of risk ratings.
- Support Risk Management leadership to implement and educate the organization on the policies, standards, guidelines, tools, and procedures required to support the Banks ORM Program.
- Manage the requisite infrastructure (processes and technology) to support risk identification needs on an ongoing basis.
- Support Risk Management leadership in driving ORM Program reports and presentations to the Operational Risk Committee, Executive Risk Committee and / or Board Risk Committee, including contributing to the quarterly enterprise risk profiles that aggregate company-wide risk.
- Conducts research and analysis of industry best practices and regulatory guidance on operational risk identification, measurement and reporting.
- Performs other risk management related duties as needed.
