Status : Full-Time
Schedule : Monday- Friday 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm or 9 : 00am-6 : 00pm & Saturdays during the busy season 8 : 00am-12 : 00pm
Compensation : $ 17.00-$19.00 Depending on Experience
Experience Level : Customer Service Experience preferred / Auto Part Experience preferred.
JOB SUMMARY :
As an Entry-Level Machinist at Sanel NAPA, you'll assist in our automotive machine shop by supporting the disassemble, repair, and maintenance of automotive parts and components. You'll operate various machining equipment under supervision, following safety procedures and ensuring high-quality standards. You will ensure the highest standards of workplace safety by following established safety procedures and protocols.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards promptly to ensure a safe work environment.
- Assist with setting up and operating machine tools like lathes, mills, and grinders for precise machining operations on metal and other materials.
- Help disassemble, repair, and maintain engine parts and components by disassembling, cleaning, testing, grinding, milling, boring, straightening, and replacing parts.
- Grind and replace gears on flywheels and assist in repairing threads as needed.
- Support routine maintenance on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics with guidance to determine machining specifications and tolerances.
- Assist in building custom hydraulic hoses to meet customer requirements, ensuring quality and precision.
- Help with various press tasks, including front wheel bearings, rear axle bearings, pressing forklift tires, and replacing driveshaft U-joints.
- Inspect and measure finished products using precision instruments to verify they meet specifications.
- Work with team members to meet production schedules and address machining issues.
- Load and unload parts onto pallets, skids, or trucks, and deliver them to designated work areas.
- Disassemble, machine, and rebuilding of cylinder heads, crank shafts and engine blocks.
- Secure engine parts onto machines, remove metal chips and shavings, and clean machine surfaces.
- Remove burrs or excess metal from machined parts and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
- Assist with special orders for customers as necessary and monitor safety and cleanliness in the shop.
- Handle paperwork and procedures accurately, ensuring clear documentation of customer correspondence.
- Work effectively with other employees, follow directions, and manage stress.
- Contribute to store profitability by supporting efforts to increase revenues and reduce costs.
- Drive a truck or automobile for product delivery if required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
