What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Dispatch position at Sanford Airport Authority?
Serve as central point of contact, directing communication between pilots, operations staff, and ground handlers to coordinate flight details and maintain efficient aircraft ground handling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Distribute flight arrival/departure details to ramp crews and pilots.
- Communicate gate assignments, load info to ground handlers.
- Log and update flight schedules and aircraft turn times.
- Arrange accommodation for passengers impacted by delays.
- Respond to flight crew and ground staff inquiries.
- Assist passenger agents as needed.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Support planning of aircraft parking configurations.
- Complete administrative logs, records, and paperwork.
- Identify opportunities to improve airport efficiency.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
- Radios and aviation communication systems.
- Flight info displays and gate assignment boards.
- Phones, computers, printers, fax machines.
- Baggage handling systems and equipment.
SKILLS:
- Aviation industry knowledge.

EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED required. Prior dispatch or operations experience preferred.

Required:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to pass Federal Fingerprint Background Check - the Federal Fingerprint Background Check is not limited to 7 years but checks your entire lifetime. Felonies will not be cleared.
- Ability to pass a 10 Panel Drug Test - The Full-Panel Drug Test DOES include testing for THC. SAA is a drug free workplace as regulated by the FAA.
- Favorable Moving Violation Report(MVR) - The Moving Violation Report Check is checking for a DL suspension, several moving violations, DUIs, etc. to your current employer until you are confirmed clear
