Job Title : Skilled Nursing RN Charge Nurse
Job Specialty : Nursing
Job Duration : 12 weeks
Shift : 3 : 00 pm - 11 : 30 pm, with every other weekend coverage and holiday rotation
Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week
Experience : Prior work experience in a similar or related position preferred
License : Licensure for the state of practice required
Certifications : BLS
Must-Have : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Job Description :
- Provide care to residents in a caring, safe, and efficient manner according to set standards, procedures, and individualized care plans.
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments of residents upon admission and on an ongoing basis using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation).
- Demonstrate competence in clinical skills according to the Competency Verification and Training Checklist.
- Ensure residents receive ordered medications and treatments in a timely manner while following appropriate infection control procedures.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all administered medications.
- Obtain necessary equipment and supplies to provide care as needed.
- Follow procedures for pressure ulcers, dehydration, malnutrition, incontinence, pain management, and medication administration.
- Complete glucometer testing and control monitoring accurately according to procedures.
- Implement specific approaches to manage resident behavior and enhance mood states per the care plan.
- Review and update resident care documentation as necessary.
- Use the electronic medical record system accurately for documenting actions and condition changes.
- Record skilled nursing notes and all actions related to admission, discharge, transfers, or death.
- Document incidents or accidents in resident records and complete necessary forms.
- Assist in quality improvement processes including audits and corrective procedures.
- Complete assigned portions of the MDS for Nursing and sign the forms as required.
- Process physician's orders and notify physicians in a timely manner.
- Make rounds with physicians as assigned and attend or obtain resident reports prior to shift start.
- Communicate with resident's family on condition changes and respond promptly to resident call lights.
- Supervise assigned employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and addressing complaints.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies, and fulfill obligations under the corporate compliance program.
- Perform all duties in a moderately noisy work environment, with weight lifting requirements of up to 35 lbs.
- Participate in creating an engaged work environment for staff.
