The Buildings and Grounds Foreman directs surface buildings and grounds maintenance and leads the management and maintenance of surface transportation assets and mobile equipment.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Plans, schedules, supervises and inspects buildings and grounds maintenance activities.
- Determines priorities of projects based on needs of the facility.
- Submits input regarding future property improvements and modifications.
- Prepares schedules and timelines for approved projects and activities.
- Prepares routine maintenance schedules.
- Periodically reviews the progress of projects and verifies quality and cost effectiveness of work.
- Oversees buildings and grounds maintenance to ensure efficiency and safety of activities.
- Works to ensure facilities are clean, hygienic, safe and present a neat appearance.
- Oversees removal of snow, and lawn and parking lot maintenance.
- Manages vehicle fleet to ensure effective usage and proper maintenance.
- Prepares routine maintenance schedules, coordination of resources and ensures completion of maintenance activities.
- Coordinates maintenance schedules with other Departments as necessary for mobile equipment and surface transportation assets.
- Secures needed support contracts to supplement SDSTA staff efforts.
- Creates and manages work orders (within CMMS system) to plan and track Buildings and Grounds work activities.
- Provides inputs to SDSTA management on required staffing and budget resources for surface operations and maintenance activities.
- Evaluates workload to plan and assign work.
- Sets and communicates performance standards and expectations.
- Reviews, evaluates and addresses job performance.
- Reviews and approves leave requests and time cards.
- Provides backup supervision support for other managers as required when others are away from the facility.
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is desired.

- Five years planning and scheduling operations maintenance and supervising staff.
- Methods, practices, tools, and materials used in maintenance, repair, and grounds keeping work.

- This position may require working in office, surface, and underground environments at depths up to 5000 feet, which may include exposure to extreme conditions, confined spaces, and varying temperatures.
- Perform work in a typical office environment which includes individual workstations, shared workspaces, meeting rooms, and common areas such as a break room and kitchen.
- The noise level is generally low to moderate in typical of an office setting and moderately loud when on the surface or underground, and may require hearing protection.
