Bus Pay Rates:
Regular Route: $55.04/Run (1.5 hours); $110.08/Day
Vocational Route: $49.69/Run (2 hours); $99.38/Day
Special Ed Route: $71.41/Run (2 hours); $142.82/Day
Pre-K Route: $55.74/Run (1 hour)
Special Trips: $15.00/hr (3hr minimum)

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: BUS DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Be of good physical and mental health; (2) ability to be responsible for and carry out assigned duties; (3) valid bus driver license; (4) ability to pass a drug test and background check (5) such qualifications as the Board or Transportation Director may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director
JOB GOAL: Drives school buses to safely transport students on specific routes according to time schedule.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 175-day position
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
EVALUATION: Annually by Transportation Director as established by Board policy
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs bus driving as assigned, in accordance with all safety regulations and traffic
laws set forth by the State of Illinois and the Sangamon Valley School District.
- Maintains discipline on bus according to school district policies and reports misbehavior of students to the building principal and transportation director.
- Instruct pupils in proper behavior, general procedures, and evacuation drills.
- Complete runs and reports any mechanical problems to the transportation director.
- Models professional, courteous behavior, attitude, and appearance in all interactions with students, parents, school officials, co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
- Maintains an up-to-date schedule of times and bus stops, making necessary changes and reporting all changes to the transportation director.
- Performs all required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Conduct a walk-through of the inside of the bus after every trip to ensure no students remain on the vehicle. (Responsibility of driver and monitor)
- Be familiar with the location and use of all emergency equipment on the bus such as the two-way cell phone, reflectors, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, body fluid clean up kits, fire blankets and seatbelt cutters. Use emergency equipment with or without the help of the monitor in an emergency.
- Attend all required safety and in-service training programs during the school year.
- Cleans the interior of the bus daily.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
