Overview
Our client is developing rugged, multi-purpose humanoid robots built to do real work in the real world. The founding team has decades of experience in humanoid robotics, bionics, and high-impact hardware—designs that have operated deep underwater, in space, and even appeared on a U.S. postage stamp. They’re now building a world-class team to bring their humanoid robot to market—and are seeking a Staff/Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design of the robot’s hand and end-effector systems.
Day-to-Day
- Own the design of human-like, dexterous hand systems for a humanoid robot
- Drive concepts from sketch through CAD, prototyping, testing, and production
- Solve complex mechanical challenges involving actuation, manipulation, and packaging
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and ID teams to ensure seamless integration
- Work closely with manufacturing partners to bring high-quality parts to life
Must Haves
- 7 years of mechanical design experience (5 with an advanced degree)
- A strong portfolio of shipped hardware (robotics, consumer, medical, aerospace, or automotive)
- Deep experience with CAD and precision mechanical design
- Comfort designing for mass manufacturing (DFM, injection molding, etc.)
- Strong fundamentals: statics, dynamics, FEA, tolerance analysis, GD&T
Plusses
- Experience with humanoid robots, exoskeletons, or robotic manipulators
- Hands-on work with motors, transmissions, cable drives, and high-DOF systems
- Familiarity with wire harnessing, flex circuits, or compact electronic packaging
- A passion for building beautiful, functional systems that work in the real world
Salary : $160,000 - $250,000
