POSITION SUMMARY
The Vascular Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound procedures. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology, proficiency in sonographic techniques, and the ability to interpret and document findings accurately. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The role will be based in Lee's Summit, MO but may travel 1-2 days per week to Overland Park, Kansas.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- Perform vascular ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to carotid, venous, arterial, and abdominal studies.
- Prepare and position patients for ultrasound examinations, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order.
- Utilize sonographic techniques to capture images and evaluate the vascular system, identifying any abnormalities or pathologies.
- Accurately document and report findings to the interpreting physician.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain patient records and manage ultrasound data in accordance with hospital/clinic policies and regulatory standards.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the highest quality of diagnostic imaging.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous education to stay current with advancements in vascular ultrasound technology and practices.
- Educate patients and their families about the procedures and provide clear instructions and reassurance.
SKILLS
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Strong customer service skills
- Electronic medical record experience (eClinical Works preferred)
- Highly detailed and accurate, with excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; expresses thoughts and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing; establishes trust and confidence quickly
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint and TEAMS).
- Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
- Current certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) through ARDMS or CCI.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in vascular sonography preferred.
- Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and interpreting sonographic images.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required or obtained upon hire)
