Job Purpose:
The Global Public Affairs Head, Pompe, MPS and Rare Transversal serves as a PA expert to the Rare Diseases (RD) TA. The role works closely with the Global brand teams in developing global public affairs strategies to meet key business objectives. The role collaborates with the Local PA teams to ensure relevance of global strategy, alignment on resource prioritization, and consistency in execution. The role leads rare traversal initiatives to advance the rare disease ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Global Public Affairs Head, Pompe, MPS and Rare Transversal is responsible for developing and executing global public affairs plans to deliver on the strategic objectives of the RD TA, with a focus on in-line and pipeline assets for Pompe and MPS. The candidate will also lead transversal, above TA, strategic initiatives to mobilize the patient community on the rare diseases franchise priorities (e.g., diagnosis, access to treatment, patient support) and advance Sanofi’s external leadership.
Drive implementation of a robust Global PA strategy to achieve the vision for the franchise- reinforcing the company’s commitment to the rare community, supporting high priority business objectives for select key existing products (e.g., Nexviazyme), and preparing the ecosystem for significant launches and/or uptake of new therapies.
Provide thought leadership and operational support for cross rare transversal initiatives (e.g., Sanofi Global Rare Exchanges, WorldSymposium, Sanofi Rare Disease Summit) in close coordination with the Head, Global Public Affairs, Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders, and the Franchise.
Reinforce Sanofi’s long-standing position as a leader in innovation and patient commitment in rare diseases.
Drive “Where to Play” strategy for priority markets, focusing on areas where Global PA can deliver value.
Support access to innovation via strategic policy and patient projects, including data generation/ real word evidence.
Strengthen relationships with patient groups and key stakeholders to ensure that the “voice of the patient” is central in shaping business strategy and development opportunities.
Develop an external policy/market shaping strategy for Pompe and MPS in priority countries in close partnership with local PA teams (identify patients, build advocacy, shape policy to improve diagnosis and accelerate/sustain access to treatment).
Build expertise and knowledge of Pompe and MPS within the PA community.
Work with local PA teams to ensure global strategies reflect local realities and relevance/utility of global tools.
Leverage resources and expertise across US and Corporate Affairs functions, secure alignment and champion one voice.
The Head would pull through global strategic initiatives to support Sanofi rare diseases leadership and reputation building.
Collaborate with key cross functional partners (commercial, market access, registry and humanitarian teams, medical, regulatory, R&D, commercial) to:
shape policy, guidelines to ensure patient access to treatment and clinical trials
ensure external community input is considered/incorporated into programs currently in development and/or life cycle improvements
appropriately educate external partners on breadth of Sanofi programs (e.g., commercial, humanitarian, registry) and pipeline.
Cultivate strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and patient groups to bring needed solutions to patients in line with the priorities of the TA and consistent with overall company position.
Understand important trends likely to impact business strategy – monitor and analyze potential threats, opportunities from external developments and communicate them effectively to the TA leadership
Serve as strategic advisor and support the Head of the Global Rare Neurology and Metabolic Diseases Franchise with external engagements relevant to properly operate commercial operations and protect/advance Sanofi’s reputation.
Develop and execute external engagement strategy for senior TA leadership to establish Sanofi’s commitment to science and patients in rare diseases.
The role will report to the Head, Global Public Affairs, Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders
Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (accredited four-year College or university, e.g., political sciences, law, economics, medicine, or pharmacy), is required.
Post-graduate degree in public health or health care related field /Doctorate degree or business (e.g., M.D., PhD, PharmD, MBA or equivalent) is preferred.
A minimum of 12 years of combined professional experience across Public Affairs; Market Access; Policy or a Government Affairs position with policy-shaping responsibilities is required.
Selected candidate will have current or prior experience in developing policy and advocacy strategies, in addition to advanced responsibilities in an industry (or advocacy organization) public affairs role.
Prior experience in Rare Diseases is preferred for this position.
This position will require strong collaboration across the Local, Regional, and Global teams.
Identified candidates will have proven experience in developing and leading within a highly matrixed environment.
Previous experience partnering with cross-functional teams is strongly preferred (e.g., Medical, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Communications).
This position may require up to 30% overall travel.
May consider candidates working 100% remote, based upon the candidate’s location and proximity to relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of the healthcare industry, appreciation of critical trends shaping the operating landscape and relevance to industry/business strategy.
Demonstrated ability to work with teams of experts and senior leaders in a highly matrixed organization.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable in ambiguous settings and in operating effectively in fast paced environments.

Salary : $129,000 - $163,000
