The Metrologist will be responsible for the qualification, validation, maintenance, and calibration of all laboratory instruments in Analytical Research & Development, Analytical Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Package Development, Product Development, Quality Assurance as well as the TOC instrumentation in Plant I, Plant II, Plant III, Plant IV, and the PD Building.

The Metrologist will be responsible for the qualification, validation, maintenance, and calibration of all laboratory instruments in Analytical Research & Development, Analytical Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Package Development, Product Development, Quality Assurance as well as the TOC instrumentation in Plant I, Plant II, Plant III, Plant IV, and the PD Building.
Main Responsibilities
- Schedule and issue work orders for in-house standards and compendial testing. Track the results.
- Create, track, and maintain validation documentation for all laboratory instrumentation.
- Maintain Blue Mountain software for covered items.
- Update or write methods for calibration, maintenance, or instrument use.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation when breakdowns occur.
- Write laboratory investigation reports that include the cause of instrument failure, repairs, and impact on data analyzed on instrumentation.
- Schedule and oversee third-party technicians on site to perform calibrations and preventative maintenance.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Manager, QA/Metrology.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related field required.
- Experience: 2-3 years of lab experience, which may be covered academically.
- Professional Skills: HPLC, GC, IC, ICP, AA, UV preferred.
- Role-Specific Competencies: This position requires extensive use of computer equipment. Must have a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft business software including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with instrument software such as OpenLab/Chemstation and Chromeleon preferred. Experience with calibration/maintenance software Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
