- Develop, implement, and maintain effective EHS programs, practices, and procedures for assigned plant location
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties required for successful job performance):
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective EHS programs, practices, and procedures for assigned plant location; Ensure there are programs and plans addressing Emergency Response, SARA Title III, Hazard Communications, OSHA safety programs, DOT laws, respirator, lock-out / tag-out, machine guarding, etc.
- Maintain plant-wide compliance with all key EHS-related entities and codes, such as EPA, OSHA, SWPPP, SPCC, RCRA, DOT, NFPA 70E, NEC, etc; Lead EHS reviews for processes and equipment; Develop appropriate controls; Maintain ISO-14001 certification; Maintain compliance while meeting operational and business needs
- Collect, analyze, and report plant EHS metrics
- Conduct and/or ensure incident investigations and the identification of corrective or preventive actions; Participate in investigation of near-miss and accidents resulting in lost-time injuries and/or major liability, property, or equipment damage
- Build consensus and influence a diverse group of plant associates in safe behavior and practices; Conduct and/or develop EHS-related training and coaching
- Engage and participate with new process and product development teams early in the design process to ensure effective safety controls and ergonomic principles are designed into the equipment and processes
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (These are the traditional minimum, or required, bona-fide occupational qualifications and other requirements of most people in this job).
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum two years’ experience in some capacity involving EHS program or initiatives in a manufacturing environment

- Working knowledge of EHS-related regulations and requirements

- Good MS-Office skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Intermediate knowledge of statistical data collection and analysis
- Ability to effectively assess / audit / kaizen processes and procedures

- This position must develop strategies and tactics to achieve various EHS-related goals. If not done effectively, results could include a variety of excess costs (workers’ comp charges and rates, fines, etc.), higher injury rates, and problems with recruiting and retention.

- This position reports to the Plant Manager.
WORKING CONDITIONS (Describe the environment within which the work is performed).
- Office environment, with frequent time spent on factory floor
- Occasional travel is possible

- Able to travel within the manufacturing area, including possibly around or behind other equipment
- Periodically may require keyboarding for extended periods of time
