The Senior Events Manager will focus on pro-active business development for Santa Anita Park, will be responsible for preparing all event documentation, and coordinates with property departments, vendors, and customers to ensure consistent high-level service throughout pre-event, event, and post event phases of property events. This position primarily handles complex events.
Working closely with the Senior Director of Events Sales and Associate Director of Events to handle all client’s needs from the time the event is booked through to the conclusion. This includes coordinating all food and beverage needs, event space, parking, security, cleaning, processing payments, coordinating vendors and any additional tasks as deemed necessary by the Associate Director of Events.
Work closely with the Hospitality team on all food and beverage related items, such as menus, pricing, and banquet operations. Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events. Supports and acts on behalf of the Associate Director of Events in his/her absence.
Essential Functions:

· Be adept in selling catering/venue space and servicing events as needed.
· Actively up-sell each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunities.
· Arrange site visits and tastings as needed.
· Verify business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery.
· Increase customer loyalty by meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
· Strong written correspondence and time management skills.
· Identifies operational challenges associated with his/her group and works with the property staff and customer to solve these challenges and/or develop alternative solutions.
· Have a strong understanding of product, competition, and goals.
· Stay up to date on competitors, industry trends and best practices.
· Ensures Delphi accounts, bookings and log of activities are constantly up to date.
· Produces Delphi event orders and room diagrams on time, with clear and accurate information, to distribute to the operations team.
· Check event space prior to our guest’s arrival, ensuring all details agree with client’s requirements and internal standards. Ensure deficiencies are corrected by appropriate personnel.
· Creates accurate budgets for events.
· Reviews billing and payments with clients.
· Leads BEO meetings, pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups.
· Coordinates the preparation, presentation and service of food and beverage products to ensure the highest quality.
· Attend food and beverage and marketing meetings on a weekly basis as needed.
· Knowledge to read and produce budgets, profit and loss statements and sales goals.
· Run monthly reports as required.
· Reviews survey results with associates.
· Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
· High School Diploma or GED
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in this position with high volume 4-star service plus from a convention center or hotel. Must be detail oriented. Seeking a high-energy individual, who is a team player, motivated, adaptive, and passionate about exceeding customer expectations. Must be available to work any day Monday through Sunday, morning and evening shifts based on event or business needs.

- Strong Delphi and Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Excel, Word, and Outlook.
