Santa Barbara Humane, one of the oldest nonprofit animal welfare organizations in the country, is seeking a skilled HR Generalist to support our team of 70 employees. This role is responsible all related administrative functions, encompassing recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-years experience in the HR field, with a focus on labor relations and compliance, and an aptitude with ADP software. Working across our two campuses, in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, this job requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while supporting our hard-working team as they help thousands of animals a year.
Santa Barbara Humane is a financially secure, Socially Conscious shelter that has served our communities since 1887. We provide pet owners with access to affordable veterinary care, dog training, and emergency support. Our animal shelters rehome over 2000 animals annually, including hundreds from overcrowded facilities.
The HR Generalist will have a regular presence at both campuses, but will primarily work-from-home and enjoy the flexibility of a 30-hour a week schedule. Minimum Qualifications:
3 years of experience working in the human resources field, with experience in labor relations and compliance and managing compensation and benefits programs.
Experience and aptitude with HRIS software (currently ADP)
Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
SHRM certification preferred.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a home office setting or onsite shared office setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work may be assigned at either SB Humane Campus or off-site location as-needed.
