Position Summary
Santa Catalina School, a nationally recognized PreK-12 independent, Catholic school in Monterey, California seeks seasonal summer camp counselors for Summer at Santa Catalina. Summer at Santa Catalina serves 300 plus girls through day and resident summer camp programming from June to August. This position requires a positive role model who can build relationships with campers and their families, lead various games, and oversee free play and activities.
Lifeguards report to the Director of Summer at Santa Catalina, lifeguarding for camp free swim activities and aquatic classes as needed.

Description
This position lifeguards at our on-campus pool for our summer camp program. Campers swim daily in aquatics classes. During camp, the person in this position helps cover and uncover the pool, lifeguards, and assists with other duties as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lifeguard for camp free-swim activities and aquatics classes
- Help manage risk during aquatics classes and free-swim activities
- Help organize and put out aquatic activity supplies, including the pool obstacle course
- Help cover and uncover the pool as needed
- Assist with pool deck and camp program logistics
- Manage camper behavior individually and in groups positively and consistently
- Assist in administrative needs to support program activities, such as maintaining daily attendance and accountability records
- Learn, follow, and explain camp rules, regulations, policies, and daily practices regarding the Summer at Santa Catalina program operation
- Help maintain and organize program supplies and spaces

- Must have a current lifeguard certification
- 1 year lifeguarding experience preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not supervise other employees
Working Conditions and Compensation
- Ability to work actively with campers of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds
- Ability to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, standing, bending over, crouching, sitting, reaching, driving (a cart) for extended periods, and needing to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a school environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and people
- Salary: $17-20/hour
