About the Position :
The Principal Data Warehouse Architect collaborates with internal application teams to improve data integration and standardize data quality to support strategic enterprise-level analysis. This advanced professional classification is distinguished by its focus on data leadership, architecture, and business alignment. The Principal Data Warehouse Architect is responsible for ensuring the integrity and integration of data across all VTA business units, acting as a technical expert and consultant to both management and the data warehouse team. This role requires a deep understanding of data warehousing principles, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate business needs into effective data solutions. The Principal Data Warehouse Architect plays a critical role in designing and implementing the data warehouse environment, including data modeling, extraction, transformation, and loading processes. They also provide guidance on data governance, lead innovation efforts, and collaborate closely with business units to identify new opportunities for leveraging data to improve decision-making and customer service.
About the Division : VTA’s Technology Department drives innovation and excellence, providing top-notch, cost-effective tech services and solutions. They support cutting-edge technology, including computers, CCTV, audio / visual systems, ERP, records management, communications, web applications, and enterprise infrastructure. The team plays a crucial role in integrating technology through strategic planning, training, and consulting, while managing high-speed, reliable wired and wireless networks and secure information systems. The Program Management Office, Technology Working Group, and Technology Steering Committee ensure all new projects align with VTA’s mission.

Preferred Technology knowledge and experience :
- Functions and Characteristics of data warehouse
- Transit, Transportation, Operations, or Logistics System Applications
- Microsoft Power Platform – Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps
- Software Development Life Cycle
Typical Tasks :
Employment Standards : Sufficient education and increasingly responsible experience to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through a combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in computer science, engineering, business information systems, management information systems, database information systems, or a closely related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience in designing, implementing, and integrating data, analytics, and cloud technology components, as well as leading cloud platform architecture / engineering.
