What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician I position at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk?
JOB SUMMARY:
Insure daily operational readiness of technical systems. Perform troubleshooting, field and shop repairs on the systems and equipment maintained by Technical Services. Ensure cleanliness and organization in all Tech Service areas. Ensure the highest level of guest service and guest experience. Work both individually and as part of the Tech Service team during daily duties. Requires weekends, holidays, days and evenings.
UNIQUE JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work a variety of shifts seven days a week. Wear company issued uniforms. Work inside and outside in varying weather conditions. Work in small confined areas at times. Must able able to provide consistent, friendly and helpful service to employees and guests. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
JOB TASKS:
- Perform pre-opening operational system checks.
- Set up, operate and tear down for various special events including A/V.
- Operate various hand tools including: soldering irons, crimping tools, cutters, screwdrivers, pliers and wrenches.
- Operate various power tools including, drills, drill presses, saws, impact drivers.
- Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks such as moving, setting up and installing equipment.
- Assist end users with information and troubleshooting.
- Operate company vehicles and other support equipment including forklifts, motorized carts and personnel lifts.
- Maintain shop cleanliness including trash pickup, sweeping, mopping and general cleaning duties.
- Maintain records on work completed.
- Follow verbal and written directions to perform specific duties.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment including installations in the field. General shipment receiving procedures. Assist with inventory organization.
- Record labor and material usage for bill out.
- Use CMMS software for materials billing and tracking.
- Use Project and work-ticketing management software for job duty organization and task assignments.
- Climb up scaffolding and ladders to install lighting and sound systems.
- With senior staff direction, install cable and low voltage wiring for sound, lights, computers and telephones.
- Other duties as assigned.
INTERNAL:
All levels of Santa Cruz Seaside Company personnel.
EXTERNAL:
Contact with Guests during special events including the Friday Night concert series. Contact with vendors and contractors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Use of hand tools. Use of basic power tools. Computer literacy including troubleshooting skills helpful. Basic electronics knowledge helpful.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Ability to learn troubleshooting, installation, maintenance and repair a variety of systems and equipment including: Point of Sale equipment, electronics, computer hardware systems, radios, sound systems, telephone systems, physical animation systems, access control and CCTV systems.
- Ability to learn and keep current on technological systems.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
- Ability to follow safety practices and proper lifting procedures.
- Ability to learn to use various hand tools and equipment including personnel lifts and trucks.
- Ability to ensure order and cleanliness of work area.
- Ability to sweep, mop and clean work space.
- Ability to obtain cart certification and drive an electric cart.
- Ability to handle changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to provide consistent, friendly and helpful service to employees and guests.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to hear normal conversations, read instructions and write documentation.
- Able to lift 70 pounds from ground to waist height.
- Bi-manual dexterity.
- Comfortable with heights up to 40 feet.
- Able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours at a time.
- Able to accurately identify colors.
- Able to work in a noisy environment.
- Able to to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, stooping and shoving.
