JOB SUMMARY
The role of Splash: A happy pelican that greets, interacts, waves (wings) and poses for photographs with Guests. Help to make memories for Guest that last a lifetime. Make their day at the Boardwalk more exciting and memorable. You will be entertaining at special events, on stage, picnics, parties, and company celebrations if needed. The recommended height for Splash is between 5'8" and 6'0". High level of interaction with Guests. Interacts with Guest during the "Guest of the Day" interview.

As Escort/Walker: Walk Splash on the Boardwalk to and from parties and or events. Ensure Splash is safe and acting appropriately. Operate rides while not being a walker/escort or Splash.

UNIQUE JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Able to be in full-body costume.
• Usually in the costume for about 30 minutes to an hour at times depending on the occasion.
• Must be energetic and outgoing and enjoy a high level of guest interaction, particularly with families and small children.
• Be able to accept constructive criticism to allow you to perform better as a costume character.
• In character, no talking or making noises, remember you are a pelican and they don't speak.
• You can do gestures with your hands but make sure they are appropriate, family friendly at all times. - Just because a guest tells you to do something, remember it has to be PG.
• Operate rides when not in character.
• Available holidays and weekends.

JOB TASKS (in order of importance)

• Meet and greet guests with energetic gestures. - Wave, , and pose for photographs with guests in an energetic way.
• Be ready to be stopped for many photographs.
• Be patient.
• Be able to be in character for 30 - 60 minutes with the same attitude from start to end.
• Must be able to squat and kneel to greet younger children.
• Must be able to fit into the costume with a height from 5'8" - 6'2" (a fitting will take place to ensure it fits).
• Be able to operate rides when not in costume as Splash.

Walker/Escort

• Be able to tell Splash's story of who Splash is as a mascot of the Boardwalk.
• Be able to talk and interact with large crowd of Guests, during the Guest of the Day interview.
• Must be energetic and outgoing and enjoy a high level of guest interaction, particularly with small children and families.
• Be able to handle guest services that arise with Splash.
• Be able to give other Boardwalk information such as directions or certain locations.
• Be able to keep full attention of Splash and their surroundings to be safe.
• Be a great multi-tasker.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Ability to communicate clearly with guests using appropriate hand gestures and body language.
• Ability to follow safety practices and be safety conscious.
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team with your walker/escort.
• Ability to provide consistent, friendly, and helpful guest service.
• Ability to stay motivated when in character.

• Ability to follow safety practices and be safety conscious.
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team with Splash the pelican.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to squat for pictures.
• Able to be in a costume for a long period of time.
• Able to work in a very noisy environment.
• Able to have full use of arms and legs to interact with guests.
• Stand for a long period of time.
