SPORTS PERFORMANCE TEACHER (0.5 FTE)
SUMMARY : To ensure all students demonstrate significant growth and will meet or exceed Arizona State Standards in the identified content area; to successfully participate in professional development which focuses on increased student achievement; to support the maintenance of a safe, orderly, vibrant and respectful campus; to support the expansion and maintenance of strong parent, community and business partnerships; and to foster student achievement by demonstrating a positive working relationship with parents and students.

INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develops and presents instructional programs which advance the District's vision of innovative programs at all sites and supports curriculum and educational goals.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of District program goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear and measurable objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like, to communicate these objectives to the students.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Designs and review lesson plans for all paraprofessionals on a weekly basis.
- Ensures that lesson plans provide :
- relevant anticipatory set for the objective;
- a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved;
- strategies that promote critical and strategic thinking as a means to provide opportunities for students to participate actively throughout the lesson;
- comprehensible input and hands on experience as a means for students to achieve mastery;
- opportunities for interaction and / or discussion including the introduction of key vocabulary;
- a variety of assessments to measure student growth; and
- promote state standards as outlined in the approved instructional calendar.
- Provide effective methods and instructional strategies that are scientifically research based to accommodate varying learning styles and proficiency levels of students.
- Models lesson plans, facilitates regular training at least once per month and oversees instruction of all program staff (for applicable grades), including student assessment training.
- Responsible for demonstrated student growth and achievement.
- Performs other related tasks, as assigned.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supports the program staff at each site in :Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Productively manage groups of students.Organizing materials in a manner that promotes efficiency.Enforcing and implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.Developing reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures.Communicating and clearly defining expectations for student behavior and maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.Consistently expecting students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.Frequently and accurately collecting student achievement dataDemonstrates an ability to analyze student achievement data and makes appropriate adjustments in instructional materials and / or techniques as a result.PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develops lessons and assessments which incorporate the state standards and approved District curriculum.Maintains adequate and readily available substitute plans which include, at a minimum, seating charts, schedules, contingency plans, disciplinary procedure, attendance procedures, lunch procedures, and duty assignments.Implements by instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.Ensures the assessment of the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.Ensures maintenance of accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, administrative regulation.Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, methods and in selecting materials.Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.Maintains confidentiality in all areas, except where required by law.Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal / supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments.Ensures preparation for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of supervisor.Ensures the effective instruction of assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated.Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students when on school property or in attendance at school sponsored activities.Maintains consistent, punctual and reliable attendance.Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;Maintains and improves professional competence.Analyzes the special needs for at-risk students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of District specialists as required.Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessional and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluates their job performance.Ensures creation of classroom environments that are cognizant of the dignity of the teacher, students and other staff.Maintains a manner that seeks positive solutions in actions with others and is efficient and effective in duties despite stressful and / or contentious situations.Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner.Provides leadership to program paraprofessional staff. Prepares work schedules, assists in evaluation, prioritizes, assigns, and executes daily tasks for staff.Conducts regular and thorough inventories of program resources.Engages in professional development activities to increase knowledge, skills, and performance. Attends District sponsored professional development programs and conferences.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited four-year college or university.Required Licenses and Certifications :
Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate for the appropriate grade level and / or subject matter.Meet federal and / or state standards related to subject area(s) assigned.Possess special area endorsements as required by state and / or federal regulations or District Policy and procedures.Required Knowledge of :
SIOP instructional practices and methods of classroom teaching and management.Telephone etiquette.District and School Board policies and procedures.Required Skills in :
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.Assessing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.Physical Demands / Work Environment :
Work is performed in a standard campus environment.ATHLETIC COORDINATOR (0.5 FTE)
SUMMARY : Under administrative direction, provides leadership and direction to the District's athletic departments, coaches, and students for the continuous improvement of sustaining, successful athletic programs.

Supervises, trains, prepares work schedules, and assigns tasks for athletic staff. Observes, evaluates, and provides work performance feedback to coaching staff.Oversees athletic events. Coordinates with the facilities department for the setup and breakdown of equipment, gymnasiums, press box, score tables, and PA system for game days and events. Supervises ticket sales, scorekeeping, security and officials for all home events.Communicates regularly with Facilities Manager to insure the continuous upkeep of all district fields and athletic facilities.Secures all facilities after athletic events.Stores and inventories supplies and equipment.Plans end of season banquets, if applicable.Coordinates arrangements for transportation and lodging for away athletic events including all tournaments.Works with coaches and administration on student-athlete discipline issues. Monitors student / athlete attendance, grades and eligibility.Submits and monitors an annual budget for athletics. Maintains equipment and supplies.Ensures compliance with A.I.A., if applicable, and makes appropriate notifications when necessary.Serves as administrative representative at all Booster Club meetings and events.Builds and maintains community relationships and networks to support the athletic programs.Coordinates with other athletic directors on budgets, events, handbook enforcement and other related issues.Performs other related duties as assigned or required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in Education or closely related field; AND three (3) years of teaching or coaching experience, which includes supervisory / management / leadership experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Required License and Certification :
Arizona Teaching Certification.Required Knowledge of :
District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures.Arizona Interscholastic Association Bylaws.Principles and practices of effective project management, leadership, supervision, and training.Various types and proper uses of athletic equipment.Practices methods involved in providing quality customer serviceRequired Skills in :
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.Planning and administering athletic programs and activities.Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.Physical Demands / Work Environment :
Work is performed in a standard office environment as well as outdoors.May occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.Ability to travel and represent the District.
