Job Description Summary
The Sterile Processing Technology (SPT) program prepares students with experience, knowledge, and skills necessary to earn a nationally recognized industry credential and become a vital part of the surgical team.
Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor will develop, prepare, and teach a variety of coursework in the Central Sterile Processing discipline. The Adjunct Assistant Professor must have the flexibility to teach courses during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats.
Part-time instructional service will be paid at a rate of $822 per semester credit hour and $32.88 per clock / contact hour.

Responsibilities and Duties Include :
- Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction to didactic, laboratory and / or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting and align with the IAHCSMM curriculum guidelines.
- Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.
- Collaborates with the Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery of course content.
- Correlates clinical education with didactic education and evaluates student performance and learning.
- Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.
- Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.
- Assists with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.
- Understands and enforces college and program policies.
- Participates in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.
- Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
- Appropriately documents student progress and maintains records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
- Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes / objectives.
- Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
- Assists and advises students with academic, clinical, and professional issues.
- Assist the Program Director with preparing reports for internal and external audiences.
- Coordinates, implements and evaluates the clinical education component of the curriculum; (i.e. initiate and maintain clinical affiliate contracts, student clinical rotation placement, clinical affiliate visits and evaluations); ensures effective program operation and compliance with IAHCSMM, SACS, or other regulatory agency requirements.
- Assists in the recruitment activities of the program.
- Maintains current knowledge of Central Sterile Processing and educational methodologies within higher education via appropriate workshops, seminars, courses, and educational conferences.
- Maintains good standing with credentialing and licensing bodies.
- Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws / regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
- Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required : A master's degree in a field of Biological Sciences in any combination of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Histology, Kinesiology, Medical Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacology, Physiology, System Physiology, Veterinary Physiology or Pathology, Zoology, Sterile Processing, Surgical Technology, or Nursing. A professional degree may be accepted as fulfilling the degree requirements, such as MSN, MD, DO, DC, DVM, PT, OT, or related; OR industry recognized credential in any of the above qualifying fields with six (6) months of experience working in sterile processing; OR an associate's degree and coordinating credential in an Allied Health program.
Additional Requirements : A criminal background check will be conducted.
