Job Summary
The Patient Registration Specialist is the first point of contact for patients arriving at our medical imaging facility. This role is crucial in creating a positive and efficient patient experience by accurately and efficiently registering patients, verifying insurance information, collecting payments, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and customer service skills. They will work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional atmosphere.
- Coordinate with medical staff and technologists to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Maintain a clean and organized registration area.
- Provide exemplary customer service to all patients.

- Resolve patient concerns and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion when interacting with patients.
- Scan and file patient documents accurately.

- Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain a stock of necessary forms and office supplies.
- Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, and address patient inquiries.
- Communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and insurance providers.
- Inform patients of potential delays.
- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information, accurately entering data into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Verify patient identity and ensure all required forms are completed and signed.
- Explain registration procedures and answer patient questions regarding paperwork, insurance, and scheduling.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical or dental office setting is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices and terminology is a plus.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance requirements is essential.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
