What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard position at Santa Fe Indian School?
Provides security for the SFIS school staff, students, buildings, and property through patrol of school building(s) and building perimeters, including parking lots, to prevent unauthorized visitors or property damage and to provide for general building security.
Essential Duties, functions, & Responsibilities
· Patrols school buildings and grounds, as necessary, to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
· Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of windows, doors, heating, plumbing, or electrical systems to school administration or maintenance department.
· Confronts unauthorized persons on campus for questioning. Requests assistance from school administration and/or Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northern Pueblos Law Enforcement, or City of Santa Fe Law Enforcement, as necessary.
· Assists, as directed by school administration, in stopping disturbances and undue distractions on school property.
· Assists program staff with uncooperative students.
· Assists program staff in providing field sobriety testing methods, including the utilization of (DAX Goggles and a Breath Alcohol Content tester (BAC) for all violations related to drug use, intoxication, and/or the improper use of over-the-counter medications.
· Assists program staff in providing any written reporting, as needed.
· Assists program directors and school disciplinarians in providing investigations and, if assigned, the extraction of relevant information on all student phone devices, for the purpose of resolving school violations.
· In the absence of the Security Director, coordinates with participating Program Directors, as necessary, the decision to engage the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northern Pueblos Law Enforcement on the investigation and hand over of violation, based on Courts of Indian Offenses and Law and Order Code [25 CFR 11] Sub part D.
· Assists in providing additional security coverage for all school activities and athletic events. In special circumstances, provide additional coverage for those activities held off campus.
· Assists with calls related to minor medical needs, assessing situations, and initiating first aide, as necessary.
· Ensures all gates and doors are locked -- or opened -- at times designated and scheduled.
· Sets up pylons, rope lines, etc., to prepare for school activities.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D., Must be 21 Years of Age or older, Experience in Security, Safety or Law Enforcement is preferred. Valid Drivers License w/ 3yr. free of major driving violation.

Pay: $20.13 - $25.16 per hour
