About the Commitment
Teaching Fellows commit to a minimum of three years at Santa Fe South. During the first year, known as the Fellowship year, Fellows train alongside a highly effective lead teacher in an anchor classroom to build their teaching skills and confidence. In years two and three, Fellows take on the responsibility of leading their own classroom as the primary teacher, while still receiving ongoing support and mentorship. Teacher Fellows are required to have a four-year bachelor's degree. The starting salary for this position is based on the teacher pay scale.
Responsibilities:
Teaching (75%)
- Assist lead teacher with instruction, classroom culture, and administrative duties
- Under the supervision of your mentor teacher, gradually take on increasing classroom responsibilities as determined by classroom need and your individual performance
- Apply new skills in other grades and subjects within your school community by serving as the substitute in a classroom when a teacher is absent
- Internalize and teach developmentally appropriate content in a clear and concise manner to support student learning
- Gather resources and prepare materials to ensure strong student engagement in lessons
- Participate in regular meetings with your mentor teacher and school coach, grade level meetings, and school/district professional development
- Work with small groups of students to provide targeted instruction during the day
- Other duties as assigned : arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and subbing
Professional Development (25%)
- Attend and actively participate in all professional development beginning in July 2025 through the end of the school year
- Participate in and implement feedback from observations, evaluations, and feedback meetings with school and district leaders
- Independently study teacher moves and content to build content knowledge and teaching tool box
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by June 2025, all majors accepted
