What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Principal/Director of Alpha position at Santa Fe South Public Schools?
Santa Fe South Alpha is seeking an experienced and motivated educational leader to serve as the Assistant Principal for our High School Credit Recovery Program. The Assistant Principal will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of credit recovery services to ensure students have meaningful opportunities to regain academic credits and stay on track for graduation. We are seeking a dedicated, student-focused administrator to lead our team. Instructors at Alpha work with students in small groups and/or individualized settings to help them master essential course content through online and/or in-person instruction. Alpha's curriculum is from Edgenuity, a fully accredited high school curriculum in Oklahoma.
Alpha currently serves 112 students. The program currently has two sessions:
- AM session is from 7:45-12:00 (56 students)
- PM session is 12:00-4:15 (56 students)
Students may graduate from Alpha or use Alpha for credit recovery enabling them an opportunity to return to a high school of their choice, Santa Fe South High School, or their home school.
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and academic support in core subjects and electives.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Facilitate online credit recovery platform – Edgenuity.
- Collaborate with teachers and counselors to ensure student progress and success.
- Maintain attendance and progress records as required.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.
- Provide leadership and direction for the overall credit recovery program, including academic oversight and daily operations.
- Supervise instructional and support staff, ensuring adherence to program goals and educational standards.
- Coordinate program logistics including student enrollment, scheduling, staffing, and use of online platforms.
- Collaborate with district school counselors, administrators, and parents to identify and support eligible students.
- Monitor student progress and program effectiveness, implementing improvements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state requirements, and program guidelines.
- Manage the program budget and resources efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and communication with all stakeholders.
- Plan and execute senior activities and graduation.
- Supervise In-School Suspension - staff and students.
- Organize and maintain records for ISS attendance, behavior, progress with secondary site leaders.
- Attend weekly district leadership meetings.
- Interview potential students.
- Plan and execute NWEA MAP testing for students during each testing window.
- Assign and develop interventions for math and reading using IXL online platform.
- Follow district and site disciplinary policies and procedures.
- Communicate and partner with community businesses and organizations.
- Assign and document disciplinary actions in PowerSchool.
- Responsible for site state testing.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
- Valid Oklahoma teaching credential in appropriate subject area(s).
- Experience working with high school students, especially in credit recovery or alternative education settings, is preferred.
- Experience with the Edgenuity platform.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Expertise in high school graduation requirements, scheduling, and course credits.
