Middle School Art Teacher
The Middle School Art Teacher is responsible for creating a vibrant, inclusive classroom environment where students explore various forms of visual art. This role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons that foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while helping students develop both technical skills and an appreciation for diverse artistic traditions.

Design and implement a comprehensive middle school art curriculum that explores drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art.

Foster creativity and self-expression while teaching students foundational art techniques and art history.

Create a positive and safe classroom culture that celebrates student voice and artistic risk-taking.

Incorporate culturally responsive materials that reflect the identities and experiences of our diverse student body.

Differentiate instruction to support learners at all skill levels, including English learners and students with special needs.

Manage classroom materials, supplies, and art displays throughout the school building.

Provide regular feedback to students on artistic growth and effort; assess progress using rubrics and portfolios.

Collaborate with colleagues to integrate art into cross-curricular projects or school-wide initiatives.

Curate student art shows or exhibitions to highlight student work for the school and broader community.

Participate in ongoing professional learning and remain current with best practices in art education.

Support school duties such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, or hallway transitions as needed.

Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues to support student success.

Serve on school committees or extracurricular clubs related to the arts or school culture.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

Oklahoma State Teaching Certification in Art Education preferred
