As our pre-tester, your primary role will be to run essential tests (such as autorefraction, visual acuities, retinal photos) to prepare the patients to see the doctor. When not working directly with patients, your role will be to assist the front office with answering phones and emails to communicate with our patients, as well as assist with medical billing and processing orders for glasses and contact lenses.

Responsibilities
- Work-up patients prior to seeing doctor
- Includes autorefraction, lensometry, retinal photos (Optos), intraocualar pressure assessment (using iCare), visual acuities, case history, medical history and recording all above tests in patient's electronic medical record (average 10 patients per day)
- May also assist with special testing (visual fields, hand-held ERG) for specialty/medical visits (average 1-2 patients per day)
- Open office 15 minutes prior to marked business hours
- Turn on equipment, turn on lights, unlock doors, restock office supplies/bathroom
- Billing for medical procedures (no prior medical billing/coding experience required)
- Checking in orders and notifying patients for glasses/contact lens pickup
- Ordering contact lenses and restocking contact lens trial supply
- Answer inbound phone calls / returning voicemails
- Schedule, confirm, and cancel appointments
- Process payments
- Other administrative duties, as assigned
- Excellent customer service skills
- Effective communication with patients and coworkers
- Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred
