Santa Lucia School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Classroom Aide to support a multi-age classroom environment, helping to implement engaging, hands-on lessons in literacy, math, science, and social-emotional learning (SEL). The ideal candidate will be collaborative, flexible, and passionate about working with children in a nature-based, project-driven learning community. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a lead teacher and play a vital role in fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
Position Overview: Founded in 1985, Santa Lucia School provides a nature-based, project-driven educational experience for K-8 students. Our unique program integrates hands-on learning, service projects, and outdoor education. The Classroom Aide will assist the lead teacher in supporting daily instruction, managing classroom activities, and creating an engaging learning environment for students. This role involves working in close collaboration with the lead teacher, providing individual and small-group support to students, and helping maintain a positive, organized classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support: Assist the lead teacher in planning, preparing, and implementing lessons in literacy, math, science, and SEL. Provide individual and small-group instruction to students to support differentiated learning.

Student Engagement & Support: Treat each child with dignity and respect, supporting their growth as learners and community members. Help students stay engaged in learning activities and provide additional support to students with learning differences.

Collaboration: Work closely with the lead teacher to identify and address students’ needs, and collaborate with other aides, specialty teachers, and volunteers to support classroom and schoolwide activities.

Classroom & Material Management: Maintain the arrangement, appearance, and cleanliness of the classroom and outdoor learning spaces. Organize and prepare materials for lessons and activities.

Community Engagement: Assist in the coordination of parent volunteers and support parent-school relationships. Participate in school events, festivals, and fundraisers as needed.

Assessment Support: Help monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher to guide instruction. Assist in administering assessments as directed by the lead teacher.
Qualifications:

Prior experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred)

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Ability to create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn
Preferred Skills:

Experience supporting students with learning differences (e.g., giftedness, dyslexia, ADHD)

Requirements:

Live Scan clearance with the CA Department of Justice

CPR/First Aid Certification
