Santa Margarita Catholic High School is accepting applications for an Assistant Principal of Academic Innovation.
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Principal of Academic Innovation.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
PAY RANGE: $120, 000 - $135,000 depending on education and experience
JOB SUMMARY: Provides leadership in all areas of classroom instruction and academic innovations in curriculum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluate strategies, lesson planning, classroom management and identification of curriculum resources, and inclusion strategies for the purpose of improving instruction and helping teachers become successful.
- Maintain the evaluation platform in collaboration with the AP of Curriculum & Instruction, Director of EdTech and Principal.
- Evaluate 30 to 40 experienced teachers.
- Oversee, manage and deliver the New Teacher Orientation Each Fall with the On-Boarding process which includes training on SMCHS history, bell schedule, technology, and much more.
- Mentor and oversee the new teachers and facilitate monthly meetings for 1st and 2nd year teachers.
- Work with all teachers to review grading programs, school-based software, timelines and learning portal in collaboration with the Director of Edtech.
- Assist the teachers to establish realistic, innovative and appropriate goals for professional performance as well as guide them through the self-reflection process of analyzing their own biases and following up with classroom observations as necessary.
- Assist, supervise and evaluate the Director of Ed Tech with issues related directly to classroom instructional technology.
- Lead and supervise the AI Task Force, Challenge Success Task Force, and Student/Parent/Teacher Innovation committee development.
- Coordinate academic and innovation outreach to the middle schools who send students to SMCHS.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions related to both the current SM Curriculum and future innovative programming.
- Assist with development the yearly Master Schedule AP of Academics & AP of Student Services
- Serve on the school's Academic Operations Team and Curriculum Council.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or President.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding and comfort level with technology.
- Ability to coach teachers.
- Comfortable with being flexible in the ever-changing world of Ed Tech.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to remain solution oriented.
- Commitment to diversity and a strong interest in planning multicultural programming.
- Excellent skills in organization & time management and an ability to pay close attention to details.
- Minimum of five (5) years of classroom teaching experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience using current and emerging technologies to support learning.
- Understanding and appreciation of the principles of Catholic social teaching.
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- An interest in best practices related to online learning, instructional coaching & growth mindset.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full time, 12-month, Administrator position with benefits as outlined in Employee Handbook. Daytime working hours; forty-hour work week; evening meetings and events often required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Works extensively in an office environment sitting for long periods of time and standing for long periods of time. With repetitive computer, telephone use and needs to have the ability to communicate effectively. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee will also be required to; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to; walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
