Santa Margarita Catholic High School is accepting applications for a Head Girls Water Polo Coach.
POSITION TITLE: Head Girls Water Polo Coach
DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Athletics
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
SUPERVISES: Girls Water Polo (All Levels)
STIPEND: $15,000.00 - $25,000.00 (depending on experience)
JOB SUMMARY: Perform all duties required to effectively direct and coach girls Water Polo all levels. Perform all duties necessary to develop a competitive, compliant, and successful program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for coaching all levels of girls Water Polo.
- Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing and coaching of the SMCHS sports program.
- Oversee lower-level coaches and their responsibilities.
- Provide a positive environment for student-athletes to excel in.
- Ensure that all coaches hired for the program complete the proper hiring paperwork/certifications and fingerprinting prior to contact with the athletes.
- Attend and coordinate annual evaluations, in writing, of all assistant coaches and discuss with AD and administration.
- Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of the program’s staff in the planning, organizing and coaching of the SMCHS team and ensure staff follows league and CIF policies and regulations.
- Direct the program’s staff in the preparation of analysis of opponent teams; analyze game statistics and tactical data of opponents and prepare game plans accordingly.
- Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with administration and faculty for resolution of problems as required.
- Responsible for performing administrative duties for your program (Rosters, Early Dismissals, Schedules, Scores, etc.).
- Adhere to Early Dismissal policies in accordance with Athletics and Attendance.
- Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations, monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds.
- Adhere to specific program budget allocations.
- Complete and submit all Business Office related documents.
- Act as facilitator and arbitrator in problems or conflicts arising among staff, athletics and parents.
- Coordination and reservation of all transportation and travel plans.
- Administer and/or supervise the distance, speed and daily training programs for specific groups/individuals.
- Manage team communication via TeamSnap, BAND and MS Teams.
- Responsible for overseeing Booster Club and parent volunteers.
- Responsible for ordering uniforms, equipment and coaches/team gear.
- Responsible for the organization and delegation of duties for the set up and preparation of the gym for home games.
- Manage team banquet and awards.
- Attend all Head Coaches Meetings, Mandatory Athletics/School Events, and Mass 1x Season.
- Assist with logistics and budget for approved fundraisers.
- Ensure all fees are handled through FACTS.
- Assist and/or supervise logistics and workouts of Summer Camp.
- Monitor the academic progress of all student-athletes.
- Engage and coordinate in public service and community outreach activities.
- Follow SMCHS and Athletic Department guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Adhere to and support all rules, conditions, and regulations of Santa Margarita Catholic High School, Trinity League and CIF.
- Promote good conduct and sportsmanship.
- Project a positive image and conduct oneself in a manner that brings credit to the Athletic Department and SMCHS.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Athletics and Athletic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to pass all pertinent SMCHS qualifications and Diocesan requirements.
- Ability to drive large passenger vans.
- Availability for the duration of the season. Commitment for an entire season.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to student development.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to student-athletes.
- Playing and/or coaching experience.
- Previous experience working with students in a team or sport setting.
