A Senior Living Transportation Driver is responsible for safely and courteously transporting elderly residents to various destinations, such as medical appointments, shopping centers, and recreational activities. This role is crucial in ensuring that seniors maintain their independence and access to essential services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation: Operate company vehicles, including cars and buses, to transport residents to scheduled activities and appointments.
- Resident Assistance: Assist residents in boarding and disembarking vehicles, ensuring their safety and comfort during transit.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, report maintenance needs, and ensure cleanliness and safety standards are upheld.
- Scheduling Coordination: Collaborate with transportation coordinators to manage and update transportation schedules, accommodating changes as necessary.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance activities.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations to ensure a secure environment for residents.
- Community Engagement: Represent the organization positively by interacting respectfully with residents, families, and community members.
Hours Needed:
- Evenings, Monday through Saturday: 5-9 p.m.
- Mornings, Sunday 8-12:30 p.m.
- Extra hours as needed.
Qualifications:
- Licensing: Possession of a valid state driver's license; a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement may be required depending on the vehicle type.
- Experience: Previous experience in driving large vehicles or transporting passengers is preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to assist residents with mobility challenges, including lifting up to 30 pounds and supporting individuals weighing up to 200 pounds.
- Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Background Check: Successful completion of background checks, including driving records and criminal history.
