What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care - Early Childhood Education Preschool Teacher position at Santa Monica Family YMCA?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Implements project-based learning curriculum within the established guidelines.

Designs and implements project-base learning daily lesson/activity plans for the preschool program.

Supervises the children and non-lead teachers, classroom, and all activities.

Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.

Conducts parent conferences, maintains positive relationships with parents, and communicates effectively with them. When appropriate, engages parents as volunteers.

Maintains program site and equipment.

Maintains required program records.

Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training.

Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities.

Promote, establish, and maintain a positive YMCA image at all times.

Dress in an appropriate and professional manner following YMCA rules and guidelines.

Follow YMCA work rules and procedures to complete all assigned tasks and duties efficiently, timely, and positively at all times.

The employee is to model non-sexist and non-racist behavior towards children, parents, or staff.

Employees must take the initiative to be willing to assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Employees must be cooperative, accessible, and active members of the YMCA staff.

Follow all YMCA, Child Development Department, and State Licensing policies and procedures at all times.

Maintain State Licensing and staff/child ratio requirements at all times.

Helps orient new parents and children to the program and assists with tours as needed.

Address parent concerns and comments promptly and professionally; keep the Early Learning Center Director informed of all parent concerns and issues.
SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT:

CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications must be current.

In-house Sexual Harassment, Child Abuse, and Safety Training must be completed within the first 30 days of employment.

No contact with students or program participants outside of the YMCA, either in person, via social media, text, online, etc. Babysitting or caring for children enrolled or enrolled in the program is prohibited. Any outside contact with current or former enrollees of the program will result in immediate termination.

Employees may not wear headphones or earbuds while on duty.

Employees may only use their cell phones when off duty or for emergencies.

Employees may not take pictures or post pictures of students or program participants on any form of social media without the consent of the parent/guardian and the YMCA Administration.
