Position Description:
Our sanitation team members provide a very important role that contributes to the overall cleanliness and organization of the facility’s interior/exterior and manufacturing equipment. The goal is to maintain a level of cleanliness compliance that must be always maintained.
Work Environment:
Santa Monica Seafood operates in a refrigerated manufacturing facility with designated areas for sanitation. This position frequently uses standard sanitation equipment such as ware washers, dryers, mops, brooms, squeegees, chemical foaming units, water spray nozzles and other tools to assist in the cleaning process.
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided.
Essential Functions:
● Operate sanitation equipment designed for cleaning racks, totes, trays and machinery.
● Utilize various chemicals and sanitizers to perform cleaning tasks to walls, surfaces, machinery and equipment.
● Sweep & mop floors, inspect drains to ensure they are free of debris and are operating correctly.
● Follow all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and report all issues to your supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
● Must be able and willing to work in a cold and wet seafood environment.
● Repetitive standing, walking, bending, reaching, grabbing, climbing, stooping, twisting and pulling.
● Must be able to lift, push, move up to 55 pounds.
● Able to maintain good attendance and display a positive attitude.
Skills desired:
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Ability to read, write and communicate in English (Bi-lingual applicants welcomed)
● Knowledge of commercial food sanitation and/or janitorial cleaning procedures
Willing to train the right associate who displays an interest in learning Seafood Sanitation
