Purpose
The Waterpark Attendant is responsible for ensuring safety amongst guest in the waterpark in a safe manner, in accordance with all policies and procedures. This position requires close contact with the public, the ability to work well with co-workers, and assists Santa’s guests in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Provide great focus on assigned section of Waterpark to ensure safety of guest, while following all policies and procedures
- Rotate through each section of the waterpark to allow for full knowledge of day-to-day waterpark operations
- Remains vigilant for any guest and co-worker who is exhibiting signs of heat exhaustion or dehydration
- Attends morning meeting daily
- Assist with the following at the end of each shift including but not limited to:
- Cleaning/restocking of cabanas
- Repositioning chairs and tables
- Picking up any trash still in waterpark
- Closing all umbrellas for the night
- Make sure all chairs in assigned section remain dry for guest before, during, and at end of day
- Ensures safety of all employees and guests
- Maintain a positive attitude, is a positive role model and keeps helpers engaged.
- Arrive at work on time, in “good show,” and keeps neat and clean throughout the day.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Must be attentive and focused to ensure guest safety
- Must possess a courteous and friendly rapport with guests and co-workers.
- Must possess ability to enforce rules and speak to guests when they are breaking them
- Have interpersonal/communication skills orally and in written language.
- Must be comfortable handling situations involving lost children, parents, and first aid calls
- Ability to locate first aid kits and assist guests with basic first aid such as band aids or ice packs
- Must know where pool closed signs are and when and where to put them out
- CPR certification is preferred
Extent of Public Contact
The Waterpark Attendant will greet guests, graciously providing them assistance, and answer their questions in order that they might better enjoy their visit. This position interacts with adults and children, while making sure everyone follows rules.
Physical Demands
Position requires frequent reaching, stretching, stooping and climbing up and down stairs. Much of the workday consists of standing and walking. This person will be required to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 pounds at any given time.
Must have the following physical capabilities to ensure guest safety at the waterpark:
- Quick Response Time: Reacts swiftly in the event of an emergency or to help guests into and out of the water.
- Manual Labor: Maneuvers through water up to 3 feet in depth throughout the course of a shift
- Physical Stamina: Stands for long periods, walks, and sometimes lifts or moves objects.
Working Conditions and Environment
Daytime position which include weekends and holidays. Position is outdoors for the entire day. Due to the nature of the waterpark, there is limited shade throughout the day. Sunglasses and sunscreen are required. This position will cease once waterpark closes for the season, allowing employee to transition to a different department in the park for fall and Christmastime.
Waterpark Attendants may work in any of the following extreme weather situations:
- Summer – Hot and Humid Conditions:
- Attendants will work in hot and sunny weather, often with high humidity, especially in summer months
- Rain and Stormy Weather
- Attendants may have to work in light rain or deal with temporary ride closures due to more severe weather like thunderstorms or heavy rain.
- Windy Conditions
- In areas with frequent winds, attendants may need to monitor weather conditions to ensure safe operation of rides, as some attractions could be closed or restricted during high winds.
Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must be able to exhibit all physical demands listed in this job description at any given time during shift
- Must be flexible throughout season, with weekend availability
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) CPR certification
10:15am - 5:15pm
11:30am - 4:30pm
