What we’re looking for:

The Santa Ynez Valley Marriott is seeking for a well-rounded, skilled, and experienced Banquet Manager. This role would be responsible for ensuring all events are within the finest quality of service at all times in an efficient and enthusiastic manner. The Banquet Manager ensures Banquets Captain, Servers and Bartenders are providing our guests with the finest quality service in a prompt efficient and professional manner. The Banquet Manager ensures Banquet House Persons perform proper set up of event function as specified in event order.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and maintain all Marriott standards in relation to meetings and events including, but not limited to, Red Coat Direct Program, Meeting Services App (MSA), etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring that back-of-house hallways remain clean and free of banquet-related trash, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure events are staffed according to the labor model.
  • Ensure event staff is in uniform.
  • Inspect meeting rooms to ensure proper set-up.
  • Ensure service standards are met.
  • Set goals and delegate tasks to improve department performance.
  • Prepare station assignments for Banquet Servers according to group requirements and hotel standards.
  • Be knowledgeable of event details in order to respond to any questions as necessary.
  • Greet all event contact persons and assist with any and all changes or needs.
  • Maintain contact with event contact persons to verify break and meal times and guaranteed counts.
  • Meet with function group leader to determine if there are any last-minute changes and confirm set-up arrangements.
  • Ensure that proper cleaning of all equipment is completed at the end of the function.
  • Identifies training opportunities.
  • Assist staff with room set-up, food service, and clean-up as necessary.
  • Attends pre-event meetings as needed.
  • Work closely with catering and convention services.
  • Work closely with the Chef and kitchen staff.
  • Administrative duties including, but not limited to:
  • Interviewing and Hiring of Staff
  • Scheduling
  • Daily Recaps
  • Completion of Banquet Checks
  • Collection of Payment and Authorized Signature on all Banquet Checks
  • Employee Relations
  • Labor Control
  • Supply Requisitions (e.g., china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, props).
  • Performs any other duties as assigned or requested by the supervisor or manager.

  • Report any unusual occurrences immediately to a member of management.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

· Must be or have the ability to be RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certified.

· Must be or have the ability to be Food Safety/Food Protection Manager certified.
